Main Features

List Items

List your Food Items on your website by simply putting markdown files with product details inside the content folder in the source code of the website. The website will automatically rebuild and deploy with fresh changes.

Website Configurations

Easily configure the website such as Theme, font, Logo, Currency Unit, Categories, About Us Text, and Restaurant Contact information by simply changing the values inside the website-source/content/settings/information.md file

You can also set the opening hours of the shop by changing the values provided in a file at src/content/settings/opening-hours.md

Easy content Management System

The website has a section "The Menu" which shows two types of products, "Deals" and "Regular"

Deals may contain the products with some special offers and Regular can display the regular items under each category. the content of this information is organized under the content folder inside the source code of the website.

The content directory has two sub-directories, deals and regular which store individual lists of items as one item per file. An example of item file is below

Online Order

Users can place orders online by adding food items to a cart and place orders. It only asks for a few details before placing an order such as name, contact number, and address.

Contact Us Function

Contact Us section which Also sends Messages to the Owner's WhatsApp when a customer sends a custom message from the Contact Us section of the website.

WhatsApp API

The website automatically sends a notification message with the order details to the owner of the shop. However, you have to obtain the WhatsApp API token and create Message templates from the Facebook developer dashboard. The process is a little bit complex but a guide will be provided for obtaining API tokens. After setting up the API, The owner will receive a text message on WhatsApp like this

Deployment

The website is built on Astro framework using SSG (Static Site Generator) for faster page rendering. The website is designed to deploy only on Cloudflare for full functioning. You can deploy to other CDNs like Vercel, Netlify WhatsApp message system will not work. After purchasing the website. You can upload this source code to a GitHub repository and then create a website from the Cloudflare dashboard by connecting the GitHub repository as a source

Disadvantages

No Backend

This website is built on JAMStack. The content is managed in markdown within the source code of the website. There is no backend and database connected with the website, However, some API functionalities are written in edge functions to securely connect with WhatsApp API.

No Authentications

There are no authentication options for the end user. The front end only asks for a few necessary details such as name, contact number, and address to complete the delivery process. This information is stored in the local storage of the user for a longer period. One advantage of no authentication is that users do not need to perform a lot of actions for just visiting and placing an order.
